What I believe about therapy

Everyone has a story, and sometimes we need a safe place to share ours. Seeking
support takes courage, and I honor the strength it takes to reach out. I pursued a career
in counseling due to my passion for helping people live their fullest potential by
connecting with them on their own human experiences. I believe that each person is
striving for connection, purpose, and belonging, and that struggles often arise when
those needs feel out of reach. Grounded in Adlerian therapy, my approach emphasizes
compassion, encouragement, and collaboration as we explore your unique story and
help you move toward a more fulfilling life. I also use aspects of Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt Therapy, and psychoeducation. Therapy is very
much a learn, unlearn, and relearn process about yourself, and figuring out what aligns
and doesn’t align with your values and goals. My first goal is to meet the client first
before the issue at hand. This is done by offering compassion, understanding, a strong
client-therapist relationship, and tools to help you move forward at your own pace.
Treatment is collaborative and uniquely molded to the individual and their presenting
issues.

I hold a B.S. in Neuroscience and Psychology from Michigan State University and a
M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. My educational
background gives me a comprehensive overview of clinical mental health, the
connection with the brain and body, and overall, a holistic perspective. My areas of
experience include anxiety, depression, life transitions, familial/relational issues, self-
esteem issues, substance use, grief, neurodivergence, and athletes. I collaborate with
the client on what tools and exercises work best with them, including mindfulness,
breathing techniques, and mind-body connection exercises.

We’re a team of compassionate therapists skilled in treating anxiety, depression, and relational issues in downtown Chicago.
